Fortuna Terrae – “Luck of the Earth” in Latin – refers to the “lucky” vines of this small plot of the Adrianna Vineyard. In fact, the deep clay soils of this sector are home to large amounts of native grasses that prevent erosion, attracting beneficial insects, songbirds and mountain foxes. Due to the freshness imparted by the deep soils and altitude, Fortuna Terrae wines have optimal acidity and delicate floral aromas. It is best to enjoy this wine a few years or decades after the harvest year. Catena Zapata Adrianna Malbec Fortuna Terrae 2021 from Catena Zapata
Color: Intense cherry red with violet hues, deep and dark, reflecting its concentration. The Adrianna Vineyard Fortuna Terrae Malbec, with its elegance, freshness and complexity, is ideal for rich and structured dishes: Red meats: Perfect with cuts such as chorizo steak, rib eye or grilled roast, where the velvety tannins and ripe fruit complement the intensity of the meat. Game meats: Deer, wild boar or venison, which harmonize with their spicy and earthy notes. Lamb: Lamb ribs baked with herbs or a tagine with plums, highlighting the floral and spicy notes of the wine. Hard and mature cheeses: Parmesan, aged gouda or reggianito, which combine with oak nuances and minerality. Dishes with intense sauces: Mushroom risotto with truffle, meats with red wine or pepper sauce, or pasta with ragù, where the fresh acidity balances the richness of the dish. Grilled or roasted vegetables: Eggplants, peppers or zucchini, which complement the freshness and herbal notes of the wine. Dark chocolate: Desserts with high-quality chocolate or fondant, which highlight the nuances of cocoa and spices of Malbec. Aroma: Very aromatic and expressive, with notes of ripe black fruits (blackberries, plums, cherries), purple flowers (lavender, violets), mountain herbs (thyme, oregano, mint), spices (pepper, cloves) and a mineral touch of wet stones and graphite. Aging in French oak provides nuances of vanilla, tobacco and chocolate. Taste: In the mouth it is elegant, round and balanced, with a juicy entry and fresh acidity that provides liveliness. The tannins are fine, velvety and well integrated, with a rich and concentrated texture. It has a long, mineral and vibrant finish, with notes of black fruits, spices and a chalky touch.
